These terms apply to chauffeured transport arranged by BlackRyde (“we”, “us”). The specific figures for your journey — fare, included wait time, cancellation window and hourly minimum — are set out on the written confirmation we send you, and that confirmation prevails over any general statement on this website.
1. Making a booking
A booking exists only once we have issued a written confirmation. Requests made by phone, email or form are not confirmed until that email arrives. Please check the confirmation carefully — addresses, times, flight numbers and passenger counts are taken from it.
2. Prices
Quoted fares are all-inclusive of the vehicle, chauffeur, fuel, tolls, standard airport fees, terminal parking, the stated wait-time allowance and gratuity, unless the confirmation says otherwise. Additional charges arise only from changes you make or request: extra stops, waiting beyond the included allowance, extended hours, route changes, or special cleaning where a vehicle is left soiled or damaged. Applicable taxes are added where required by law.
3. Wait time
Airport arrivals include a complimentary grace period from the actual landing time — a longer one for international arrivals, to allow for customs and baggage. All other pickups include a shorter grace period from the booked time. Beyond the allowance, waiting is billed in increments at the rate shown on your confirmation. We will keep waiting and contacting you rather than departing without notice.
4. Flight tracking and delays
Where you supply a flight number we track the flight and adjust the pickup to the actual landing time at no additional charge. If you do not supply a flight number, we cannot track it, and waiting charges will run from the time you booked.
5. Changes and cancellation
Changes and cancellations made outside the window stated on your confirmation are free of charge. Inside that window a fee may apply, and for specialty vehicles — stretch limousines, vans and multi-vehicle bookings — the fee may be the full fare, because the vehicle was withdrawn from service to hold your date. A no-show, meaning we are at the agreed location and cannot reach you within the waiting allowance, is charged in full.
6. Our cancellation
If we cannot supply the vehicle because of a mechanical failure, an accident, severe weather, road closure or another event outside our control, we will make reasonable efforts to substitute an equivalent or better vehicle. Where we cannot, we will refund you in full. That refund is the limit of our liability in those circumstances.
7. Vehicles
Bookings are for a vehicle class, not a specific car. Photographs on this site are representative of each class. We reserve the right to substitute a vehicle of equivalent or greater capacity and standard.
8. Passengers, luggage and capacity
Passenger and luggage capacities shown are maximums and cannot be exceeded, for safety and legal reasons. Please declare oversized items — skis, golf clubs, instruments, pushchairs — when booking. If a party or its luggage exceeds the declared amount, the chauffeur may decline to carry the excess and the fare remains payable.
9. Child restraints
Child seats are supplied free of charge when requested at the time of booking so that the correct seat can be fitted and checked. We cannot guarantee a seat requested on the day of travel, and cannot legally carry a child without the correct restraint.
10. Conduct
Smoking, including vaping, is not permitted in any vehicle. Alcohol may be consumed only where the vehicle is licensed for it and all passengers are of legal drinking age. The chauffeur may refuse carriage to, or end a journey for, any passenger who is abusive, unsafe, or in breach of the law; in that event the full fare remains payable. A cleaning or damage charge applies where a vehicle is left soiled or damaged, at cost.
11. Journeys outside our own fleet area
Where your journey is in a city we do not serve with our own vehicles, we arrange it with a vetted operator from the professional networks we belong to. We remain your point of contact for booking, confirmation, changes and invoicing. The transport itself is performed by that operator under its own licences and insurance.
12. Lost property
Items left in a vehicle are held securely and returned wherever possible; delivery outside our service area may be chargeable. We cannot accept responsibility for property left behind, and unclaimed items are disposed of after a reasonable period.
13. Liability
We provide our service with reasonable skill and care and maintain commercial insurance as required by law. We are not liable for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control, including traffic, weather, road closures, border delays and flight schedule changes. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss such as missed flights, missed connections, lost earnings or missed events. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Payment
Fares are payable by the accepted methods shown at booking. Corporate accounts are invoiced on agreed terms; overdue accounts may be suspended and may attract interest at the statutory rate.
15. Complaints
Tell us as soon as you can — ideally while the journey is fresh. Write to support@blackryde.com and we will acknowledge promptly and investigate. We would rather fix a problem than defend one.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it, and the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction. Where you contract with us as a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your own place of residence.
17. Your personal information
How we handle the data you give us when booking is set out in our privacy notice.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force for your booking is the version published when your confirmation was issued.
