Chauffeur cost guide, 2026

What a chauffeur costs in 2026.

Straight answers to the question most transport pages avoid. Below are BlackRyde’s published 2026 prices in US dollars for hourly, daily, monthly and yearly chauffeur hire, with every figure including taxes and a 20% gratuity, followed by the extras that change a bill and how to compare quotes fairly.

  • $155 / hBusiness Sedan
  • $285 / hFirst-Class Sedan
  • $95 / hchauffeur only
  • All-intaxes + 20% gratuity

All prices are in US dollars (USD) and include taxes and a 20% gratuity.

The short answer.

A chauffeured Business Sedan, such as a Lexus ES or Cadillac CT5, costs $155 an hour with BlackRyde in 2026. A full-size SUV such as an Escalade or Navigator is $185 an hour, the long-wheelbase versions are $235, and a First-Class Sedan such as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or Genesis G90 is $285. A professional chauffeur to drive your own car is $95 an hour within the city, with a four-hour minimum per day. Those numbers are all-in: taxes and a 20% gratuity are included, so the rate is what you pay for the time.

Hourly rates in US dollars, all-in
Per hourBusiness SedanFirst-Class SedanSUV BusinessSUV FirstChauffeur only (your car)
Within the city$155$285$185$235$95 (4-hour minimum)
Out of town (+50%)$232.50$427.50$277.50$352.50$142.50
Eight-hour day in the city$1,240$2,280$1,480$1,880$760
Each mile over 93 a day$3$8$4$4Not applicable

Every figure includes taxes and a 20% gratuity. 93 miles a day are included with company vehicles. Out of town adds 50% to the hourly rate, plus the chauffeur’s hotel and a flat $100 travel allowance, with your car or ours. Tolls, parking and onboard Wi-Fi are passed on at actual cost. Overtime is simply billed at the same hourly rate.

Daily, weekly and monthly costs.

Multiply the hourly rate by the hours. An eight-hour day costs $1,240 in a Business Sedan, $1,480 in an SUV Business, $1,880 in an SUV First and $2,280 in a First-Class Sedan. A five-day week of eight-hour days in a Business Sedan is $6,200, which is exactly the price of a 40-hour monthly block; the difference is that the block spreads those hours across the month.

Monthly blocks run 40, 80, 120 or 220 hours at the same hourly rate, with no discount and no rollover of unused hours or miles. A full-time chauffeur, 220 hours a month, costs $34,100 in a Business Sedan, $40,700 in an SUV Business, $51,700 in an SUV First and $62,700 in a First-Class Sedan. In your own car it is $20,900. A yearly contract holds the same monthly figure for twelve months.

Monthly block price (USD, all-in)
Hours a monthBusiness SedanFirst-Class SedanSUV BusinessSUV FirstChauffeur only
40 hours$6,200$11,400$7,400$9,400$3,800
80 hours$12,400$22,800$14,800$18,800$7,600
120 hours$18,600$34,200$22,200$28,200$11,400
220 hours (about 10 a day, 22 days)$34,100$62,700$40,700$51,700$20,900

Blocks are the hourly rate multiplied by the hours you reserve: there is no discount and no surcharge for committing. Unused hours and unused miles do not roll over to the next month. Hours used beyond the block are billed at the same hourly rate. Taxes and a 20% gratuity are included.

The extras that change a bill.

Mileage: each day with a company vehicle includes 93 miles. Beyond that, extra miles are $3 in a Business Sedan, $4 in an SUV and $8 in a First-Class Sedan. A day that stays inside one city rarely reaches the limit; a day with two airport runs and a trip to the suburbs might.

Out of town: time spent outside the city is billed at the hourly rate plus 50%. If an overnight is needed, the chauffeur’s hotel is added together with a flat $100 travel allowance. This applies whether the car is yours or ours.

Pass-through costs: tolls, parking and onboard Wi-Fi are added at actual cost with receipts. Overtime is not a penalty; it is simply more hours at the same rate.

Why chauffeur prices vary so much.

Quotes for what looks like the same service can differ by half, and most of the difference is in what is left out. Some operators publish a low base rate and add gratuity at 18 to 25%, a fuel surcharge, an administration fee and taxes at checkout. Others quote garage to garage, so you pay for the drive to your first pickup and the drive home after your last drop. Many quote a vehicle age that is not guaranteed. When you compare, ask three questions: is gratuity included, are taxes included, and how old will the car be. At BlackRyde the first two answers are yes and the third is four model years or newer.

Location matters too. Rates in Manhattan, central London or downtown Los Angeles are generally higher than in smaller markets because of parking, tolls and labour costs. For context on how companies budget ground transport, the Global Business Travel Association publishes cost and policy research every year.

Chauffeur versus the alternatives.

Against rideshare: an app ride is cheaper for one short trip, but not for a day with six stops and a different driver each time, and an app cannot guarantee the vehicle, the driver’s experience or that the car will be waiting when the meeting overruns.

Against owning a car and driving yourself: the IRS sets a standard mileage rate each year that reflects the full cost per mile of running a vehicle, and it is a useful benchmark. Add the value of your own time spent driving and parking, and for many executives a chauffeur pays for itself in recovered working hours.

Against employing a driver: a direct hire brings salary, benefits, payroll administration, a commercial insurance policy, holiday and sick cover and, if you supply the car, its lease or depreciation and maintenance. A chauffeur contract folds those into one figure. See our private chauffeur page for how that works for a household.

Worked examples.

A two-day visit to New York: an airport collection, a full day of meetings and a dinner, then a morning of meetings and the return to JFK. Roughly 8 hours on day one and 5 hours on day two in a Business Sedan is 13 hours at $155, or $2,015 all-in, plus tolls and parking at cost.

A wedding day in an Escalade: six hours from the hotel to the ceremony, the photographs and the reception in an SUV Business at $185 is $1,110 all-in. A second car for the wedding party doubles it.

A full-time household chauffeur in the family’s own car: 220 hours a month at $95 is $20,900 a month, with nothing else to add except fuel, tolls and parking.

A weekend out of town: a Friday-to-Sunday trip from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara in a First-Class Sedan with 18 hours of service is billed at $427.50 an hour out of town, plus two nights of hotel for the chauffeur and the $100 travel allowance.

Questions worth asking any operator.

Is the gratuity included, and at what percentage? Are taxes included? Is the time counted from my first pickup or from your garage? What is the minimum booking? How old is the vehicle, and is that guaranteed? What happens if the day runs long? Which costs are passed through at actual cost, and will I see receipts? Who do I call at 2am if something changes? An operator who answers all of those clearly and in writing is one you can budget with. BlackRyde answers them on this page.

Getting an exact price.

For a straightforward hourly booking, the price is the rate multiplied by the hours, and you can reserve online with the buttons on this page. For anything with a long out-of-town leg, several vehicles, or a special-request vehicle such as an Executive Sprinter, Jet Sprinter, coach or Rolls-Royce, ask for a written quote and you will receive one figure with every assumption stated. Corporate buyers can also compare this against our corporate travel accounts.
