Chauffeur for your car
If you already own the car you want to be driven in, you only need the driver. A BlackRyde chauffeur for your own vehicle is $95 an hour within the city, with a four-hour minimum per day, priced in US dollars with taxes and a 20% gratuity included.
All prices are in US dollars (USD) and include taxes and a 20% gratuity.
Some clients have spent a long time choosing a car and would rather sit in the back of it than in someone else’s. Others have a vehicle fitted to their needs: a wheelchair conversion, an armored SUV, a car with child seats already installed, or a classic that only comes out for summer weekends. Families with two or three cars often want one person to drive whichever is needed that day. And some clients simply find it cheaper to keep their own vehicle and pay for the chauffeur alone.
Whatever the reason, the chauffeur you get is the same one we would put in our own fleet: licensed, background-checked, trained in defensive driving and client etiquette, and briefed on your household or office before the first day.
A chauffeur for your car is $95 an hour inside the city, with a four-hour minimum on each day of service. That figure is all-in: taxes and a 20% gratuity are already included. A half-day of four hours is $380; a full eight-hour day is $760. On a monthly block, 40 hours is $3,800, 80 hours $7,600, 120 hours $11,400, and 220 hours, effectively full-time, $20,900. Unused hours do not roll over.
Because the car is yours, there is no mileage charge from us, and fuel, tolls and parking stay on your own account or are passed on at actual cost if the chauffeur pays them. Days outside the city are billed at $142.50 an hour, which is the hourly rate plus 50%, and an overnight adds the chauffeur’s hotel and a flat $100 travel allowance.
| Per hour | Business Sedan | First-Class Sedan | SUV Business | SUV First | Chauffeur only (your car) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Within the city | $155 | $285 | $185 | $235 | $95 (4-hour minimum) |
| Out of town (+50%) | $232.50 | $427.50 | $277.50 | $352.50 | $142.50 |
| Eight-hour day in the city | $1,240 | $2,280 | $1,480 | $1,880 | $760 |
| Each mile over 93 a day | $3 | $8 | $4 | $4 | Not applicable |
Every figure includes taxes and a 20% gratuity. 93 miles a day are included with company vehicles. Out of town adds 50% to the hourly rate, plus the chauffeur’s hotel and a flat $100 travel allowance, with your car or ours. Tolls, parking and onboard Wi-Fi are passed on at actual cost. Overtime is simply billed at the same hourly rate.
Before a chauffeur drives your vehicle, we confirm that your insurance policy covers a professional driver who is not a member of your household. Many personal policies do, some need a named-driver endorsement, and a few exclude paid drivers entirely. We will tell you what to ask your insurer and we will not start until the answer is in writing. The Insurance Information Institute explains in plain language how auto policies treat permissive and hired drivers, and it is a good place to start the conversation with your broker.
If your car is a company vehicle or held in a trust, the same check applies to the owning entity’s policy. If you are not sure who owns the policy, we can work it out with your office or family office.
On the first day the chauffeur walks round the vehicle with you or your house manager, notes its condition, and learns where the keys, chargers, child seats and spare items are kept. They will adjust seats and mirrors to drive and return them to your settings at the end of the day if you ask. Refuelling and charging are handled on your card or the house account; car washes and detailing can be arranged on request. Anything that looks wrong with the vehicle, such as a warning light or uneven tyre wear, is reported to you the same day.
For electric vehicles we plan charging around your schedule so the car is never short when you need it. For high-value or classic cars we agree in advance where the car may and may not be parked while it waits.
The service runs on the same terms as our other programmes. You can book a single four-hour minimum day, a reserved monthly block, or a yearly contract with the rate held for twelve months. The block options and their prices are in the table above. If you later decide you would like us to provide the car as well, the same chauffeur can usually move across to a company vehicle on a monthly chauffeur service without starting again.
Clients in New York, Toronto, Los Angeles and Miami most often use the service for household driving: school runs, appointments, shopping and evenings out. Business clients use it for executives who prefer their own car for privacy or because it has been fitted out for security. Our private chauffeur page describes how a household arrangement typically works.
A family on a 40-hour monthly block might use the chauffeur for the morning school run three days a week, a supermarket and errands loop on Wednesday, an evening at the theatre on Thursday and a Saturday trip to a country club. The chauffeur arrives at the house, takes the keys from the agreed place, runs the day and returns the car clean, charged or fuelled. On an executive account, the chauffeur might bring the car from the residence garage at 7am, drive to the office, take the principal to two client meetings and a dinner, and return the car to the garage late in the evening.
Our chauffeurs drive most passenger vehicles a household or executive is likely to own: luxury sedans and SUVs, electric cars including those with driver-assistance systems, convertibles, minivans with sliding doors and wheelchair ramps, and long-wheelbase models. Classic and collector cars are accepted case by case, after we have seen the car and agreed how it is to be driven and stored. Armored vehicles are driven only by chauffeurs trained on them. Commercial vehicles that require a special licence class, such as larger vans or minibuses, are matched with a chauffeur who holds that licence.
If your car has features the chauffeur must know about, such as an unusual gear selector, a seat memory system or a security mode, show them on the first day and they will be noted in your file for any cover chauffeur.
A professional driver is only half of a safe journey; the other half is the vehicle. If you are choosing a car to be driven in, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety publishes crash-test ratings that cover rear-seat protection, which matters more when you are the passenger. Your chauffeur will also check tyre pressures, lights and fluids at the start of each day, and will tell you if the car needs attention before it becomes a problem.
Terms for this service, including how cancellations and changes work, are set in the written agreement or on your booking confirmation. Call (877) 403-1177 to arrange a first day.

Discretion & NDA
Our chauffeurs carry public figures, executives, officials and families whose privacy is not negotiable. These are the rules every assignment follows.
We sign your non-disclosure agreement, or provide ours, before a chauffeur is named to the assignment.
Names, addresses and schedules go only to the chauffeur and coordinator on the job, never onto a shared board.
Chauffeurs do not photograph passengers, homes or guests, and do not mention clients on social media, ever.
No livery, no branded plates, nothing on the car that says who is inside or who arranged it.
Conversations and calls in the car are not repeated. The chauffeur speaks when spoken to, unless safety requires otherwise.
Trip logs and invoices can carry a reference instead of a name, and are shared only with the account holder.
